Midwife Under Supervision, CPM Candidate
I have been called to midwifery starting in my
early 20s. I've always wanted to deliver babies into the
world but I knew I didn't want to become an OB/GYN.
After attending many of my friend's births I decided to become a Doula in 2014. I loved helping birthing people throughout the process of pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum but I knew I was meant for more. So I started looking into being a more holistic provider and found Homebirth Midwifery. In 2018 I had my first homebirth after having 3 hospital births. It was an amazing and healing experience. The peace I felt being at home and no pressure from my amazing homebirth midwife to do anything I didn't want to do was a top-tier birthing experience. This propelled me even further to be a homebirth midwife. In November 2021 my homebirth midwife and her colleagues were holding a class to become midwife assistants. I jumped at the opportunity because most of my doula clients were hospital-based and I knew I wanted to be more in the home birthing world. As soon as the class ended I immediately decided I was going to look into midwifery classes and ask one of the Midwives to be my preceptor. I did just that and started classes and attending births as a student in November 2021.
